Every year at Gurmat Center’s ਨਗਰ ਕੀਰਤਨ tent, ਸੇਵਾਦਾਰs connect with ਸੰਗਤ about various learning and ਸੇਵਾ opportunities.
Within the vibrant tent, ਸੇਵਾਦਾਰs distributed items while passionately conversing with ਸੰਗਤ about GC’s classes and programs. ਸੇਵਾਦਾਰs enthusiastically inflated and handed out balloons. It was amazing to see so much ਸੰਗਤ come to the GC tent! |

4 Gurmat Center Youth Events |
|
Since September, Gurmat Center has held 4 Gurmat Center Youth programs with a diverse selection of guest speakers. At each GCY event, youth in grades 9 or higher enjoy an insightful discussion, an exciting sport or game, and finally, a delicious dinner. |

Throughout the program, we explore ਗੁਰਮਤਿ in a supportive and non-judgemental environment, fostering a healthy sense of belonging. We are so fortunate to have amazing guest speakers come out to our GCY events!

Back to School Sunday Darbar |
|
After a 2 month break in summer, the weekly Sunday Youth & Family Darbar returned in September! To start off the school year, the Back-to-School Darbar held on Sunday, September 15th, 2024 consisted of ਕੀਰਤਨ, ਕਥਾ, double prizes, and cupcakes!
This free weekly program is for families and youth, allowing everyone to learn more about Sikhi through Kirtan and English Katha. Please join us in the main Darbar Hall every Sunday from 5:30 - 7:00 pm! |

THE 21ST ANNUAL SHAHEEDI SMAGAM |
|
Our 21st annual Shaheedi Smagam event was a success, and we sincerely thank everyone who attended. Together, we were able to commemorate the Shaheeds of 1984 and remember the atrocities inflicted on the Sikh Nation by the Indian government. It was wonderful to join the ਸੰਗਤ in remembering our history! |

Punjabi Challenge Exam Preparations |
|
The Punjabi Challenge Exam Class helps students who wish to include Punjabi on their educational transcripts revise their Punjabi reading, writing and speaking skills. Gurmat Center has been helping students prepare for these provincial exams for 21 years! These classes were offered in November through December. |

Midterm Exams and Parent Teacher Interviews |
|
|
Midterm exams took place in late November & early December. Students in Punjabi, Santhia & Sikh Studies classes were tested on material covered since September. Exams were followed by parent teacher interviews to discuss student progress and exam results. |

This winter, Gurmat Center held not one, but two family movie nights! In November, we watched ਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਹੀਰੇ (Kaum De Heere), honoring the sacrifices of all those who lost their lives in the 1984 Sikh Genocide. In December, families gathered to watch ਚਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦੇ (Chaar Sahibzaade), honoring the sacrifices of ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ. These movie nights helped ਸੰਗਤ come together to learn and reflect on the sacrifices our Father and brothers went through for us to be practicing Sikhi today. These events were huge successes with a combined 600+ ਸੰਗਤ count! |

ਮਿੱਤਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਲ ਮੁਰੀਦਾ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ॥

| | This year, Sikh Studies students will be taking a trip to the Sasquatch Mountain Resort to enjoy a fun filled day of skiing! Stay on the lookout for pictures and videos of this wonderful event. |

| | In the first week of spring break, Gurmat Center will be holding Spring Gurmat Camp 2025! Campers will enjoy a 4-day camp of learning and excitement; Spring camp includes Gurmat, Sikh history, Gatka, arts & crafts, game time, daily prizes, certificates, a bowling field trip, and more! | Final Exams and Awards Ceremony |
| Students will be writing their final exams in May. Shortly after, all of the ਸੰਗਤ will celebrate their hardwork and success in the 32nd Annual Awards Ceremony. The awards ceremony is a very exciting and eventful day planned for all Gurmat Center students and families to enjoy, with Kirtan, Gatka, pizza, ice cream sandwiches, and of course, awards! |
