SHAHEEDI SMAGAM

Free and Open to Everyone!

As in the past 20 years, Gurmat Center will be remembering the great Shaheeds of the Sikh nation at the 21st annual Shaheedi Smagam. Gurmat Center’s goal has always been to promote the message of Sikhi and to remember the legacy of our brave Shaheeds. The Shaheedi Smagam is always held on the 31st of October so our youth can spend a wonderful evening in the company of Guru Sahib and the Sangat.

“A generation which ignores history has no past and no future."

All celebrations are great but to forget our own history is an injustice to our future generation. Let’s help our children realize how great their Sikh heritage is and bring them out to Gurmat Center on Thursday, October 31, 2024.

Children will receive a bag of candy in place of the time they would spend trick or treating. On top of that, they will enjoy an entire evening filled with fun and excitement including pizza, french fries, ice-cream sandwiches, treats, prizes, and Gatka demos!

PROGRAM DETAILS

The program begins at 5:00 pm and will end approximately at 9:00 pm.
Ticket wristbands will be distributed between 4:00 and 5:00 pm. The ticket table will close strictly at 5:00 PM and children must arrive beforehand to receive a wristband.
Sangat is encouraged to arrive at 4:00 pm to enjoy fries and pakoray and be seated in Darbar by 5:00 pm.

ABOUT THE GUEST SPEAKER

With great blessings, Bhai Harman Singh spent their childhood learning from various saints and scholars. They gained a degree in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary and served four years in the Canadian Armed Reserve Forces as a Combat Engineer. They are a respected figure within the Sikh community and are active in system/policy changing. Bhai Sahib is most known as a parchaarik for educational charity Basics of Sikhi and head of the North America Team. Bhai Sahib visited Gurmat Center in 2017 as a speaker for Shaheedi Smagam, Sunday Youth & Family Darbar in 2018 and in August of 2022 for the Gurmat Center Youth Program. We are so happy to have their darshan again!
