We are pleased to announce that a new Sikh Studies class is being offered from January to June 2021! This class is an opportunity for high school students and young adults to continue developing their knowledge of Sikhi, participate in discussions and learn about the Sikh Rehat Maryada (Sikh code of conduct).
 
CLASS DETAILS
  • Day: Every Saturday
  • Time: 7:00 - 9:00 AM 
  • Duration: January 30, 2021 to to June 26, 2021 (22 classes)
  • Start Date: Saturday, January 30, 2021
  • Curriculum: Sikh Rehat Maryada (Sikh code of conduct)
  • Participants: High school students & young adults 
  • Teacher: Bhai Gurkeerat Singh 
  • Fee: $200. Participants are being asked to pay a fee for this class. The fee encourages all participants to be punctual and to maintain attendance. As well, the fee allows participants to honour and support the efforts of the society. 
  • Seats Available: 22. Seats are limited due to physical distancing.
  • Location: Gurmat Center basement 
  • Notes:
    • Participants are required to wear a Punjabi suit/kurta pajama/chola to class. 
    • Participants are advised to bring a notebook and pen/pencil to class.
 
COVID-19 safety precautions will be taken to
ensure the safety of participants. Masks are mandatory for all students.

Each student will receive their own copy of the "Sikh Code of Conduct: A guide to the Sikh way of life & ceremonies" book by Bhai Harjinder Singh. The fifth edition of the 'Sikh Code of Conduct' is essential reading for all those interested in Sikhi. It describes the ceremonies of a Sikh from cradle to grave, whilst also giving ethical & moral guidance and daily practices of Sikhs.
 
TEACHER: BHAI GURKEERAT SINGH

Bhai Gurkeerat Singh is a leading Parchaarik that has attended Gurmat Camps around the world as a special guest speaker. Bhai Sahib's passion for Gurmat Parchar is clearly reflected in the way that he follows Sikhi. Bhai Gurkeerat Singh started off as a student at Gurmat Center in 2002 and is currently serving as a director of the society and teacher of the Level 5 Sikh Studies class.
