Our 44th Gurmat Center Youth Program took place on Saturday. 30 youth members participated in this month’s program. We started off with a discussion about health and diet and ended off with handball and dinner. Next month’s GCY group will be attending Guru Nanak Academy's GNA Talks Conference. Rumaal Project

We are pleased to announce the official launch of the Rumaal Project! This new initiative provides Sangat with clean, washed rumaals to use when coming to Gurdwara Sahib Kalghidhar Darbar.

27th Annual Cross Legged Competition

Sign-up today for the 27th Annual Cross-Legged Competition! This event is open to all students from Kindergarten to grade 12. Students are divided into three grade groups and are encouraged to sit in a cross-legged position for as long as possible. By reciting Mool Mantar Jaap during the competition, children are given the opportunity to develop Sikh values of patience and focus.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Before Winter break, students and parents attend parent teacher interviews to learn about student progress since September as well as review midterm exam results.
Classes will continue next week, followed by 2 weeks of winter break.

GCY Event #43

Our 43rd Gurmat Center Youth program took place yesterday! It was a great success with over 20 participants. We started off with a great discussion about the revolutionary steps taken by Guru Nanak Dev Jee to detach from the caste system, facilitated by Bibi Sharnjit Kaur. Later we played a competitive game of 4 corner soccer and ended the night off with a delicious dinner!

Level 4 Sakhi Night

A Sakhi night was held for Level 4 Nitnem Santhia students. The students have completed their Santhia for Jap Ji Sahib in the past few months. During Sakhi night, students started off by doing Jap Ji Sahib together followed by a presentation focused on Jap Ji Sahib by our Santhia teacher. Afterwards, students enjoyed pizza and ice cream sandwiches for dinner.

Parenting Workshop #1

Our first Parenting Workshop was a success! Over 40 parents participated in a discussion facilitated by Navneet K. Bains, an experienced family councillor with Moving Forward Services in Surrey. This workshop created a safe and welcoming environment for parents to ask questions and get support from other parents.

Volunteer Notes Meeting

The first notes meeting of the year took place this morning. Volunteers shared their valuable feedback and experience as frontline Sevadars of Gurmat Center. Their feedback and suggestions will be implemented throughout the year. We are so thankful for such a dedicated group of volunteers!

Tree Planting

On Sunday afternoon, the Gurmat Center administration team and Seva Club members had the wonderful opportunity to attend a tree planting event hosted by WoMen Rise. During this event, Abbotsford community members collectively planted a total of 110 trees in celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Jee’s Gurpurb. We are so grateful to have taken part in this amazing initiative!
