Before students went on their break, there was a week of parent teacher interviews. During these interviews, teachers discussed exam marks and student progress with families. Students are back at Gurmat Center this week to continue their learning!

Midterm Staff Meeting

Last week we had a mid-year staff meeting to discuss student progress, midterm exams, and parent teacher interviews. Teachers worked hard these past several weeks to prepare students to do well on their exams. We are looking forward to seeing students again in January!

Punjabi Class Midterm Exams

The Punjabi department has been incredibly busy for the past several weeks. All classes spent the month of November completing practise exams, followed by receiving individual feedback on their performance. In the last 2 weeks, students completed their final midterms. They will receive their grades during parent-teacher interviews!

Sunday Youth & Family Darbar

With Guru Ji’s Kirpa, Sunday Youth and Family Darbar started up again in November. Sunday Darbar begins with Kirtan followed by Katha in English and prizes at the end! This past month, we’ve learned about topics such as Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji’s jeevan (life). This program takes place every Sunday from 5:30-7:00 pm and is open to all! 

Gurmat Center Youth (Nov. 27, 2021)

This past Saturday, the youth engaged in a very fun GCY event! Bhai Kulpreet Singh led a discussion about ethical manafacturing, free trade and sweatshop free clothing. It was awesome to hear Bhai Sahib connect this back to Sikhi by using Sakhis and Gurbani as examples. This was followed by a game of charades and Langar.

Punjabi Challenge Exam Classes

Students have been working hard in their Punjabi Challenge exam preparation class. This exam is administered by the Delta School District and is offered to grades 10-12 students who are looking to get school credit for Punjabi 11 & 12. Auntie Jee Ranjit Kaur has been helping students prepare for these provincial exams since the beginning of November!

Advanced Sikh Studies

On Saturday we held our first Advanced Sikh Studies class of the year! The topic for this course is Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. The class will run from November to May 2022. This class in an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in developing their knowledge of Gurmat in a supportive and engaging environment
