Last Day of Advanced Sikh Studies

Today was the final day of advanced Sikh Studies class. Over the course of six months, students went into depth and learned about Janam Sanskaar, Amrit Sanskaar, and Anand Karaj Sanskaar. This class provided students with a unique opportunity ask questions, engage in healthy discussion, and grow their knowledge on the lifestyle of a Gursikh. The class learned using the 5 Sanskaar Pothi Sahib

27 Annual Awards Ceremony

The 27th Awards Ceremony officially concluded the 2020-2021 school year. Students were recognized for their hard work this year with custom plaques and freshly baked sugar cookies. There was also a surprise visit from Babbu lion who welcomed the students and helped present their plaques. Register at www.gurmatcenter.com for the upcoming school year.

Throughout the Awards Ceremony week, students were recognized for the hard work they have put in towards classes this year. Although classes and the event itself were different due to COVID, we would like to share the outstanding work all students have done this year. We appreciate the ongoing support from families and are looking forward to students joining us for another year of learning in September! 

11th Annual Awards Ceremony Throwback

Gurmat Center Sangat was blessed to have Baba Iqbal Singh Jee (Baru Sahib) attend the 11th annual Awards Ceremony in 2004. Baba Jee was given a tour of Gurmat Center's school and Gurdwara buildings. Families enjoyed a very inspirational Katha by Baba Jee outdoors for 90 minutes. One of their most memorable messages was about the importance of waking up at Amrit Vela and the importance of teaching children how to read Gurbani. 

 

Santhia Final Exams

Last week, Nitnem Santhia and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee Santhia students completed their final exams. Students have worked hard throughout the school year and are looking forward to the Awards Ceremony week.

UFV Presentation: India's Pandemic Response

Gurmat Center Sevadars were invited to speak at a Global Development Studies class from the University of Fraser Valley. The presentation began by discussing Gurmat Center’s mission, followed by a presentation on India’s pandemic response. This presentation will help students design campaigns that aim to help the current situation in India. The Sevadars will come back near the end of the semester to review and help carry out campaigns.
