For this Saturday’s GCY, we were joined by Bhai Navtej Singh Jee and had an interesting discussion on “Materialism and Sikhi.” This was followed by a fun and competitive game of capture the flag. The evening ended off with a pizza dinner and dessert!

Gurmat Center Summer Team!

The team that made this summer possible! From front line classroom teachers and Gatka teacher to behind the scenes as camp supervisors, overseers & office, the all-Kaurs team got to bond 8 hours a day for 8 weeks! Their time spent together was full of lots of growth & skill development as they stepped out of their comfort zones, taking on new roles.

Summer Camp Preparation

Our summer team spent the past week prepping for summer camp. The week consisted of several orientations, physical set up, & curriculum planning for all age groups. We are looking forward to finally restarting our camps!️

Gurbani Rewards Program Awards

Every year, students from Level 4 - 6 are encouraged to participate in the Gurbani Memorizing Rewards Program. Students who are able to memorize, and then recite from heart with shudh pronounciation, any of the Nitnem Banis are rewarded with a prize and a custom plaque. This year, students memorized Jap Ji Sahib, Tva Prasad Savaiye and Benti Chaupai. 

Teacher Gift & Recognition

With the Seva and support of our dedicated teachers, we were able to complete another successful school year. Our team of teachers work towards inspiring and educating students in Punjabi, Santhia, Sikh Studies and Kirtan. Our staff ranges from youth and seniors that bring in new and creative ideas and varying years of experience. We thanked our teachers this year with custom teddy bears, thank you cards, and plaques - although our appreciation for their time and effort is far greater.

Volunteer Thank You Gifts

A big thank you to all the volunteers that did Seva in the office and Dharam Parchar Store throughout the year. This year would not have been successful without the help of our dedicated volunteer team. Volunteers were recognized with custom teddy bears and thank you cards during the Awards Ceremony. Alisha Harkirat Award

Every year, the Alisha Harkirat Kaur Gill Award is presented  in memory of Alisha, who lost her life at 18 months to cancer. The family has sponsored this award annually since 2012 in loving memory of their daughter. This award is presented to a young girl who displays good work ethic and respectful communication towards peers and teachers. The winner is a hard-working student, a good reader and participates in class. This year’s winner was from Punjabi Level 2 and placed 2nd in her class with 96%.

Last Day of Advanced Sikh Studies

Today was the final day of advanced Sikh Studies class. Over the course of six months, students went into depth and learned about Janam Sanskaar, Amrit Sanskaar, and Anand Karaj Sanskaar. This class provided students with a unique opportunity ask questions, engage in healthy discussion, and grow their knowledge on the lifestyle of a Gursikh.
