Parent Teacher Interviews

Punjabi, Santhia and Sikh Studies classes had parent teacher interviews this past week. Both parents and students attended interviews over the phone after booking online. Teachers had the opportunity to discuss student midterms, their progress in class and areas of improvement with parents.

Meet our 2020-21 team!

Gurmat Center is a registered society that is run by a board of directors, administration, teachers and youth volunteers. We are grateful for our amazing team who have invested their time and energy into the organization especially during these difficult times! All of our success is due to our amazing Sevadars, Sangat, and Guru Jee!

Punjabi Class Midterm Exams

Last Friday marked the end of a very successful week of Punjabi class midterms. Midterms consisted of a reading and writing portion of all the material students learned since September. For the reading portion of the exam, students learned and memorized names of Gurus, Chaar Sahibzaaday, Punjab’s five rivers, and more!

Sunday Darbar Throwback

Throwback to the first ever Sunday Youth & Family Darbar, which was originally named after Sri Guru Harkishan Sahib Jee and known as "Bala Pritam Darbar". This youth Darbar started in 2001 and was the only one of its kind in all of BC! Sunday Darbar has been put on pause for the first time ever since 2001 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mock Midterm Exams

Last week, all Punjabi and Nitnem Santhia students had mock midterms. The mock midterm exams are to help students practice and study. Students are working hard to prepare for their upcoming midterms next week!

Planning Meeting

In light of new COVID-19 restrictions, the team got together this past weekend to discuss how to maintain the highest level of education during this time. The team discussed unique ways to ensure the continuation of Punjabi, Santhia, Sikh Studies and Kirtan classes.
